Conceptually derives from Simul Justus Et Peccator, this Latin phrase comes from Martin Luther who was saying, in our justification we are one and the same time righteous or just, and sinners. The wording is meant to demonstrate the sin nature we are wrestling against. The “old man” as Paul calls it that wants to sin and do works of the flesh. While at the same time having been regenerated, born again, we are at war with the flesh and striving to live holy as a “living sacrifice” unto God.
